-----The idea for the band originated with Mike and Andrew who began playing guitar together in the winter of 2002. Mike knew Chris from a previous band leading him to be the obvious choice for vocals. Dan, who previously played guitar for the band Venus in Furs, came to become Face on Fire's drummer after sitting in on a session with Mike, Andrew, and Chris. The search for a drummer was over but the challenge of finding a bass player continued. Andrew knew Jon from the band Captain Insaneo and was added as the final member of the group.

-----March 2003-A three song demo was recorded to use for promotional use. The demo featured the songs: Second Death Star, Cave, and Extra Hell.

-----August 2003-Dan left the band to attend law school at the University of Southern California. About one month later, Kyle Huling joined the group behind the skins.
